Betty Lynn Carroll Harbour, 80, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend of Brownsville, Texas passed away at Valley Baptist Medical Center on Wednesday, August 2, 2017, with her family at her side.

Betty Lynn was a longtime resident of Brownsville. As a teacher with the BISD for over 20 years all of them at Villa Nueva Elementary, Betty Lynn touched the lives of many of the children in our community. In her spare time, Betty Lynn was a devoted cross-stitcher and bird watcher but her true passion was reading. She was a voracious reader, reading anything and everything that came across her path. Her favorite color was cornflower blue.

Betty Lynn was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed not only by her family and friends but by all those fortunate enough to have known her.

Betty Lynn is preceded in death by her first husband, Eddie Max Young; her second husband, Darrell Harbour; her parents and a brother, John.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Karen Young, Holly Gower and her husband Rick, Jay Young and his wife Leslee, and Jana Young; the 8 grandchildren that were her pride and joy: Jennifer, Erica, Kristina, Hector, Alyssa, Joshua, Cameron, and Peyton; 3 sisters: Susie McVey, Linda Lantz, and Leslie Horton along with numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and numerous extended family members.

In accordance with Betty Lynn’s wishes, she was cremated. A Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 7, 2017, at the Price Road Church of Christ, 2434 E. Price Rd.
