Juan Jose Gallegos
General Manager

Juan Jose Gallegos was born and raised in the Delta area of the lower Rio Grande Valley of Texas. He attended Monte Alto public schools and graduated from Edcouch-Elsa High School in 1974. It was during his sophomore year of high school that he became affiliated with then Champion Funeral Home in Elsa as their part-time gardener. After graduation from high school, he migrated to the state of Michigan, as a migrant farm worker, with his parents and siblings for the last time before enrolling in the Commonwealth College of Mortuary Science in Houston. Upon graduation from mortuary school, he returned to the lower Rio Grande Valley and began his employment as an Apprentice Funeral Director and Embalmer with Darling-Mouser Funeral Home of Brownsville on October 3, 1975. He has remained at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home since then and is now the General Manager of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home and Trevino Funeral Home of Brownsville, Texas.

He and his wife Maggie have six children and ten grandchildren. His favorite past time is spending time with his family and gathering friends and family around the outdoor grill.
Oscar Alvarez
Funeral Director/Embalmer

Oscar Alvarez was born and raised in Brownsville, Texas. He is the son of Ildefonso and Natalia Alvarez. He attended Reynaldo Garza Elementary, Oliveira Middle School and graduated from Porter High School in 1993. During his school years he worked with his father in the construction business. Upon graduating he married Judith Ann Avendano. He moved to Houston, Texas in August of 1994 and enrolled at Commonwealth Institute of Funeral Service. He graduated in August of 1995 with Honors and Distinction. He moved back to Brownsville, where he started his apprenticeship with a local funeral home. He has been employed at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home as a Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer since October 3, 1997.

Oscar enjoys spending time with his family and loves to paint. He has had many art shows throughout the Rio Grande Valley. He is known to some people as the artist of the funeral home. Oscar is a member of New Life Center U.P.C. in Brownsville. He and his wife currently reside in the Los Fresnos area and have four sons.
Judith Ann Alvarez
Funeral Director/Embalmer

Judith Ann Alvarez was born and raised in Brownsville, Texas. She is the daughter of Fernando Avendano, Jr. and Judy Cisneros. She attended Rosa Del Castillo Elementary, Oliveira Middle School and graduated from Porter High School in 1994. She was involved in volleyball and the drill team in middle school and volleyball in high school. She married Oscar Alvarez in December 1993. After graduating she and her husband moved to Houston, Texas to attend Commonwealth Institute of Funeral Service. She graduated in August 1995 with Honors and Distinction. She returned to Brownsville, and started her apprenticeship at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home as a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer.

She is a member of New Life Center U.P.C. in Brownsville, Judith enjoys spending time with her family. She and her husband, Oscar currently reside in the Los Fresnos area with their four sons.
Loraine Garcia Knoch
Funeral Director

Loraine Garcia Knoch is a native of Brownsville. She started working at Darling-Mouser in October 2001 as a part-time funeral attendant. Loraine graduated from Villa Maria High School in 1972. She graduated from Pan American University in Brownsville in 1977 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Elementary Education; she started a teaching career that spanned 29 years with BISD. Upon retirement, she enrolled in the Mortuary Science program at San Antonio Community College. She finished her funeral directors certification program in December.

Loraine became a licensed funeral director on April 15, 2008. She resides in Brownsville with her husband, Kevin and Bassett Hound, Peggy Pecosa. Her husband is a freelance journalist.
Mary Alice Rodriguez
Location Administrator

Mary Alice Rodriguez was born in Edinburgh and raised in Brownsville, TX since age 2. She is a 1971 Homer High School graduate. In 1972, she attended Texas Southmost College where she studied Business Administration. She has held jobs in banking and retail. A breast cancer survivor of 22 years, she started working for Darling-Mouser in 1995 selling Pre-Need and then worked as a Funeral Attendent until becoming ill in 2001. She recovered and started working again in 2006 taking the position of Location Administrator.

Mary Alice is married to her husband of 34 years, Albert Rodriguez who is employed with International Bank of Commerce. They have one son, Mark (Miriam) one daughter Melissa and a grandson Fabian Arturo. She has been a member of New Life Center Church for the past 23 years where she has held various positions from singing in the choir, chorale and Sunday school teacher and member of the Ladies Auxillary. She is also a member of the More to Life Bible Studies that are held twice a month.

Her hobbies include collecting antiques, small ceramic shoes and coca-cola items. She enjoys sitting down in the living room surrounded by the piano and guitars singing with her daughter, son and husband.

Working with the funeral home has filled a great purpose in her life. She always felt a special call in reaching out others who were experiencing pain in their lives.
Rodolfo Renteria
Maintenance

Rodolfo Renteria was born in Matamoros Tamaulipas, Mexico and came to Brownsville at age 18. He started working in Brownsville as a shrimper and came to be a captain of a shrimping vessel. He bagan working at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home on April 18, 1994 and has been a loyal and hard working employee ever since. He was hired as a custodian, and has used his skills as a carpenter, plumber, electrician and everything else in between to make or help make repairs at Darling-Mouser and Trevino Funeral Homes.

He and his wife Lupita have four children and one grandchild. His favorite past time is watching futbol soccer. He travelled to watch the Copa America finals in Peru and the World Cup in Germany. He plans to travel to Venezuela this year to the Copa America.

Guadalupe Rubalcava
Funeral Attendant

Jose Guadalupe Rubalcava, was born in Rincon de Romos, Aguascalientes, Mexico on December 13, 1940. He became affiliated with Darling-Mouser Funeral Home on August 30, 2004 and began working as a funeral attendant, parking lot attendant and driver. He also assists in the same capacity at our sister funeral Home, Trevino Funeral Home.

He and his wife Sandra are the proud parents of a 9 year old son and Mr. Rubalcava also has four other grown children.
