Please accept my condolences on the loss of your brother, Rey. He was my sons' teacher when he taught kinder at St. Paul on Taft Street and then, when he was teaching at Cummings. He was one of our good English teachers who was dedicated to his students. We were sorry to see him go when Rivera open its doors and accepted him as an English teacher. May he rest in peace in the arms of the Lord. He will be missed.

Please know that your brother changed many lives in such a positive way. I lm not sure I’d be an attorney today had it not been for him and two other great teachers at Rivera. I was lucky enough to tell him that at our 10 year high school reunion which he attended. (Class of ‘96). He was so tough and had such great expectations of us that he actually treated us As if he knew we were bright and not destined to work a blue collar job like our parents. Not that there is anything wrong with that. My dad is a mechanic and my mom a substitute teacher. They didn’t know how to pay for my college but thanks to Mr Flors I knew that somehow it could and would be done. He was a blessing and he will always be remembered. 🙏🏼

My beloved friend: I will miss you. My heart aches, but I know St. Peter will open the gates of heaven to welcome you home.
The memories of being the pillars of Rivera HS will live beyond our lifetime through the lives of those we helped educate. Rest in Peace; Our friendship will always be cherished.
