Eduardo Genis Aguilar, 79, also known as "Ed" or "Eddie", entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, August 2, 2016, at his residence in Brownsville surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Cuautla, Morelos, Mexico, in November of 1936 to Augusto and Albertina Aguilar. Ed served as Lay pastor of the Mexican Methodist Church in Van Horn, taught Spanish and French in Colorado City, Texas, completed his MA in Spanish at UTEP and began a 31 year career teaching Spanish and French at TSC and UTB in 1968. After his retirement in 1999, Ed continued as an adjunct professor until 2009.
Ed married Marcia Kahl of Oconto, Wisconsin, in 1964, and they celebrated 52 blessed years together in July. She survives him as does their son, Steven.
Ed was active in the First United Methodist Church, serving as church treasurer from 2000 through 2011. From 2006 through 2010 he served on the board (Divan) of Al Amin Shriner's in Corpus Christi and was elected CEO (Potentate) in 2010. After that time, Ed's health declined and ultimately he was diagnosed with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) a rare form of Parkinsons. Ed was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed not only by his family and friends but by all those fortunate to have known him.

Ed is preceded in death by parents.
