Adelaida Aguilar, 83, of Brownsville, Texas, entered into eternal rest at her home on Thursday, Ocotober 25, 2007. She was born on December 19, 1923, in Port Isabel, Texas.

Adelaida was retired from Philen Shipping Company where she worked as a bookkeeper for many years. Upon her retirement, she opened Aguilar Flower Shop where she enjoyed working with her family creating beautiful floral tributes.

Adelaida was a very loving and selfless person. She volunteered many hours to her beloved church, Immaculate Conception Cathedral. She was a constant caregiver to her sisters, Rafaela Fela Aguilar and Guadalupe Lupita Lopez until their passing. Most recently, Adelaida took care of her sister, Concepcion Conchita Aguilar until she, Adelaida, became ill and could no longer care for her.

Adelaida was loved tremendously and will be missed by her sisters, nieces, nephews, relatives, and close friends.

Adelaida was preceded in death by her parents, Hilario and Herlinda P. Aguilar,; her brother, Hilario Aguilar, Jr., and her sisters, Evangelina Aguilar, Leonor Aguilar, Rafaela Fela Aguilar, and Guadalupe Lupita Ramon C. Lopez.

She is survived by her sisters: Concepcion Aguilar, Rosario Reynaldo Tamayo, Sr. Mary Leila Aguilar, I. W. B. S., and Emerita Cristina Aguilar; her nieces and nephews: Reynaldo Tamayo, Imelda David Tamayo Lopez, Noe Prudence Lopez, Leonel Elia Lopez, William Rocio Lopez, Mary Leila Lopez, and a beloved nephew,Roberto X. Moreno. She is further survived by her grand nieces and nephews: Christopher Tamayo, Michelle Lopez, Lucinda Marie Lopez, Leonel Gerardo Lopez, Raul Ramon Lopez, and Marco Esteban Lopez.

Visitations and a rosary were held on Saturday, October 27, 2007 at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home. Visitation will continue from 1 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, October 28, 2007 in the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser. A holy rosary led by Bishop James Tamayo will begin at 2 p.m. and the Sisters of the Incarnate Word Blessed Sacrament will lead a rosary at 7 p.m. this evening.

The Mass of Resurrection will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 29, 2007 at Immaculate Conception Cathedral. Committal services will follow at Port Isabel City Cemetery in Port Isabel, Texas.

David Lopez, Leonel Lopez, William Lopez, Christopher Tamayo, Reynaldo Tamayo, and Israel Vasquez, Jr., are honored to be serving as Adelaidas pallbearers.
