Arlene C. Burge

BROWNSVILLE, TX. - Arlene C. Burge entered into eternal rest on Friday, the 26th of April 2024 at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville. She was eighty-six years of age.

Arlene Connie Burge was born in La Feria, Texas. She was beautiful, classy, lovable, and friendly, and was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, and special friend to many. Her marriage to Cecil Burge was a union of two people who were very much in love with each other. Her son Michael was Arlene's pride and joy. Michael sadly passed away in 1978 at age nineteen.

Arlene worked at Country Casual where she had a talent for finding the perfect outfit for each customer and exhibited a very sophisticated style that was utilized at decorating the shop's display window. She had lifelong customers who admired her work ethic and style.

Arlene had a natural beauty. She was soft spoken, intelligent, and loving and was inquisitive and always seeking knowledge. She was also very polite and quick-witted.

Arlene was outgoing and lived a full life. She loved to shop and always kept up with fashion, meeting up with friends, going out to eat, and going to the movies. She loved the house that Cecil built for her and enjoyed all the time she spent there. 

All those of us who got to know Arlene loved her and will miss her dearly.

Preceding Arlene in death was her husband, Cecil Burge; her son, Michael; her parents, Arley Shears and Consuelo (Connie) Leal Shears Almanza; and her sister, Betty Lou Shears Perez.

Arlene leaves behind her step-daughter, Jeanie Ralston; her niece, Judy Perez; her nephew, Rick Perez (Anna); great-niece, Jennifer Perez; great-nephew, Rick Perez, and her brother-in-law, Adan Perez.

Visiting hour will be held on Thursday, the 2nd of May 2024 from nine to ten o'clock in the morning, with a chapel service to begin at ten o'clock in the morning within the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home. Interment will then follow at Restlawn Memorial Park, 14166 US-83 BUS, La Feria.
