Berta Martinez Garcia

BROWNSVILLE, TX. – Berta Martinez Garcia entered into eternal rest on Thursday, the 31st of December 2020 in Brownsville, Texas surrounded by her family at the age of sixty-eight.

Berta was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister who was dedicated to her family and was a servant of God who never asked for anything in return. A devout Catholic, Berta was a parishioner at Holy Family Catholic Church of Brownsville. She worked for Levi Strauss & Co. until her retirement after thirty years of employment. Berta will forever be remembered for her selfless and giving personality to anybody in need and she will be missed by all of those fortunate enough to have known her.

Berta was preceded in death by her parents, Luis G. Martinez, Sr. and Estefana Cavazos Martinez; and by her siblings Luis Martinez, Jr., Raul Martinez, Sr., and Alicia Rodriguez.

Left behind to cherish her memory is her loving and devoted husband of thirty-seven years, Ruben Garcia; children Araceli Bowman (Reynaldo), Claudia Cano (Ruben), and Debra Ramos (Hugo); grandchildren Michael Cano, Randy Ramirez, Brandi Ramirez, Ryan Bowman, Andy Ramirez, Stephany Bowman, Daisy Cano, Dana Bowman, and Anthony Ramos; great-grandchildren Aliyana Cano, Leo Cano, Michael Cano, Jr., Joel Cano, and Luna Ramirez; and her siblings Olga Perez, Sylvia Delgado, and Sandra Gonzalez.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, the 5th of January 2021 between the hours of one o’clock and five o'clock in the afternoon within the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home. The recitation of the holy rosary will follow privately Tuesday evening for immediate family only, however, will be livestreamed at www.darlingmouser.com. We ask that you please adhere to all of the current social distancing guidelines and restrictions in place.

The family requests all funeral service attendees meet directly at Holy Family Catholic Church. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at one o’clock in the afternoon on Wednesday, the 6th of January 2021 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 2405 E. Tyler Street, Brownsville, Texas 78520. Committal services will follow via escorted procession to Buena Vista Burial Park, 5 McDavitt Boulevard, Brownsville, Texas 78521.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Hugo Ramos, Ruben Cano, Reynaldo Bowman, Randy Ramirez, Ryan Bowman, and Mauro Delgado. Andy Ramirez and Anthony Ramos will serve as honorary pallbearers.
