Blanca I. Solitaire

Blanca I. Solitaire, 66, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend entered into the glory of her eternal life at her residence on Sunday, Feb. 11, 2018 with her family at her side, after a valiant battle against COPD.

Blanca, a native and lifetime resident of Brownsville, touched the lives of countless of our community's youth as a teacher with BISD for 30+ years. Blanca was a longtime parishioner at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church where she taught CCE. Blanca was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed not only by her family and friends but by all those fortunate enough to have known her.

Blanca is preceded in death by her parents: Lucinda and Odilio Ortiz; a sister, Patricia Ortiz and a brother, Odilio Ortiz Jr.

Left behind to eternally cherish her memory is her husband of 40+ years: Pedro "Pete" Solitaire, Jr.; 3 children: Odette Reneé, Elton Angelo, and Gilbert Anthony (Claudia) Solitaire; the 5 grandchildren that were the apple of her eye; 2 sisters: Paula (Rolando) Salas and Diana (Jaime) Torres, and a brother, Rolando (Susan) Ortiz along with numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family members.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2018, with the recitation of the holy rosary scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening in the East Chapel at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home. Visitation will resume at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 15th with a Funeral Liturgical service scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 15, 2018, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 1055 Military Highway, Brownsville, TX . Committal services will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.

Blanca's sons, Elton and Gilbert along with her brother, Rolando Ortiz; her brother-in-law, Rolando Salas; and her nephews, Jaime Adrian Torres and Michael Ortiz are honored to be serving as Blanca's pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer will be her daughter, Odette Reneé Solitaire.
