Candelaria "Cande" G. Lopez

BROWNSVILLE, TX.  – Candelaria Gracia de Lopez, affectionately known as Cande by her family and friends, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, the 28th of May 2022 at Solara Specialty Hospital in Brownsville. She was eighty-seven years of age.

Cande was a very loving person who would always place other peoples needs before hers. Her family was of utmost importance to her, and she would always keep in touch with all of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. One of her favorite pastimes included preparing special meals, especially on Thanksgiving and Christmas. A devout Catholic, her faith was undoubtedly her priority. She was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and a member of the choir for many years. Although she was a busy person both at home and at church, she would make time to enjoy vacationing with her family.

Preceding Cande in death was her husband, Enrique Lopez, Sr.; her son, Enrique Lopez, Jr.; and her mother, Martha H. Hernandez.

Survivors include her children Maria G. Ramnarine (Kamta), Felipe Lopez (Nina), Mario A. Lopez (Diana), Miguel A. Lopez, Rafael “Ralph” Lopez (Challo), Manuel Lopez (Kenny), and Yolanda Hernandez; her numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her brother, Roberto Sanchez (Lupita); and her daughter-in-law, Margarita Lopez; in addition to numerous extended family members.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, the 3rd of June 2022 between the hours of twelve noon and five o’clock in the afternoon within the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home.

Visiting hours will resume at six o’clock in the evening at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 555 West Saint Francis Street, Brownsville, with the recitation of the holy rosary to begin at seven o’clock Friday evening within the church.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at twelve noon on Saturday, the 4th of June 2022 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will then follow, via an escorted procession, at Buena Vista Burial Park, 5 McDavitt Boulevard, Brownsville.
