BROWNSVILLE, TX. - Consuelo “Chelo” A. Perales passed away peacefully on Thursday, the 11th of September 2025 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Brownsville, Texas surrounded by her loving family. She was 88 years of age.
Chelo was born in Brownsville, Texas on November 9, 1936, daughter of the late Jesus Aguilar and Consuelo Martinez Aguilar. A lifetime resident of Brownsville, she freelanced as a display coordinator for New Yorker and Three Sister's, and thereafter, she worked part-time as a sales representative at Mac's Toys. Later, she took over Robert's Studio and went on to open an event hall, Party Time Party Hall.
Chelo was known for her tremendous goodness of character and devout Catholic faith. She was kind, compassionate, giving, selfless, and devoted to her family and friends and will be greatly missed.
Preceding Chelo in death are her parents, Jesus Aguilar and Consuelo Martinez Aguilar; her siblings, Angelica Hernandez, Amparo Rodriguez, Adan Aguilar, Ezequiel Aguilar, and George Israel Aguilar; and her nieces and nephews Roxana Aguilar, Leticia Aguilar, Alfredo Torres III, Jose Hernandez, Jr., and Marq Allen Johnson.
Survivors include her loving and devoted husband of 61 years, Robert Perales, Jr.; her children, Robert Perales III, Maricela Yvette Perales, Genaro Rene Perales (Sherry), and Myra Yvonne Perales-Fernandez De Lara (Juan); her grandchildren, Genaro Rene Perales, II, Sheldon Lawrence Perales, Juan Fernandez De Lara IV, Jonathan Garrett Perales, Michael Fernandez De Lara, Matthew James Fernandez De Lara, and Hope Alissa Perales; her great-grandchildren, Maven Rush and Siren Blue Leija; her siblings, Rolando Aguilar, Dora Johnson, Gonzalo Aguilar, and Zully Torres; and her beloved Chihuahua, Lady Holly Perales.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, the 15th of September 2025 between the hours of twelve noon and nine o'clock at night, with the recitation of the holy rosary to begin at seven o'clock Monday evening within the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home.
The Funeral Service will be celebrated at two o'clock in the afternoon on Tuesday, the 16th of September 2025 at the historic Immaculate Conception Cathedral, 1218 E. Jefferson Street, Brownsville. Interment will then follow, via an escorted procession, at Buena Vista Burial Park, 5 McDavitt Boulevard, Brownsville.
