BROWNSVILLE, TX. – CPT Sergio C. “Tati” Ramirez was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He left this world too soon on Friday, the 16th of February 2024, after a sudden and brief illness at the age of seventy.

Sergio was born to Rosa and Adolfo Ramirez in Baja California. After graduating from Reseda High School in Southern California, Sergio proudly served in the United States Army and was stationed in Frankfurt, Germany where he met and married the love of his life, Carla C. Ramirez. His daughter Leilani was born soon after. Sergio then became a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne. He left the military for a brief time to earn his Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice at Chaminade University in Honolulu, Hawaii. Sergio reenlisted as an officer and an infantry man, first with the 2nd Battalion Light Attack in Washington State and finally retired as Captain with the 141st Infantry in the Texas National Guard.

Sergio continued proudly serving his country as an officer with the United States Border Patrol in 1988 in Brownsville and retired as Field Operation Supervisor in 2008. Many of his favorite stories and people were from his time as an agent. He made lifelong friends that stayed in touch to his last day.

Sergio enjoyed most in his life was having a glass of wine with his wife Carla and being the best Tati to his only granddaughter Gianna. To her he was a math tutor, a jokester, and her best friend.

Preceding Sergio in death were his parents, Adolfo Ramirez Canche and Rosa Acevedo Ramirez, and his sister, Elda Ramirez.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Carla; his daughter, Leilani; and granddaughter, Gianna. His brothers and sisters Rene Ramirez, Patricia Nguyen, Eva Hernandez, Hector Ramirez, Nora Ramirez, and Elsa Ramirez also mourn his loss, as well as his numerous nieces and nephews who loved him with all their heart.
