D. Vadene Keith

BROWNSVILLE, TX. – D. Vadene Keith entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, the 23rd of September 2025 in Brownsville, Texas. She was 92 years of age.

Vadene was born on January 2, 1933 in Culp, Arkansas, daughter of the late David Lester and Gertrude “Gertie” Clay. She attended Clarion University in Pennsylvania in 1951 and moved to Brownsville, Texas in 1958. Vadene owned and operated the Seashell Inn for 35 years and loved being a bar owner and enjoyed entertaining and socializing with others. She never met a stranger, and her motto was “Do unto others as you would have them do to you.” Her other favorite pastimes included gardening and her love for roses.

Preceding Vadene in death are her husband, Elzie Herman Keith; her parents, David Lester and Gertrude “Gertie” Clay Lester, and her son, David Arliss Keith.

Survivors include her children, Joseph Keith, Kenneth Keith, Deborah Truman, and Martha Keith; her grandchildren, Raven, Tiffany, Simon, Steven, and Sarah; and several great-grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, the 26th of September 2025 between the hours of ten o'clock in the morning and two o’clock in the afternoon, with a Chapel Service to commence at two o’clock afternoon within the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home. Interment will then follow at Guillen Community Cemetery, 9055 Boca Chica Boulevard, Brownsville.

Honored to serve as her pallbearers will be Joseph Keith, Kenneth Keith, Steven Truman, Simon Truman, David Truman, Adrian Garza.

Honorary pallbearers are Devin Garza and Logan Garza.
