Dang Thi Phan Valdez

BROWNSVILLE, TX. - Dang Thi Phan Valdez entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, the 21st of October 2025 in the comfort of her Brownsville residence surrounded by her family. She was 89 years of age.

Dang Thi Phan Valdez was born in Vietnam on March 24, 1936. She married U.S. Army Specialist Clemente Moreno Valdez. They left Vietnam and resided in Brownsville, Texas for over fifty years to pursue a better life for their family. She very much enjoyed attending Templo Sinai Church regardless of the language barrier. She would often tell us she could physically feel the love, acceptance and peace of our Lord Jesus Christ there. She was skilled in knitting, sewing, and cooking Vietnamese food for large group of families and friends. She was known and admired for blessing other hardworking people with random visits carrying Vietnamese food dishes throughout the years she was able to. Her heart was God, family, and friends. She attended and enjoyed seeing her children in school functions, plays, events, band, and ROTC ceremonies. She endlessly worked as a cleaning specialist and front desk associate. Her language barrier did not stop her from taking care and attending to the needs of people wherever she went. We honestly believe she passed of broken heart syndrome right after our father passed in November of 2024 due to the rapid and noticeable decline in her health after his passing. Their love for each other will forever resonate in our hearts.

Preceding Dang in death are her husband, Clemente M. Valdez (Vietnam Veteran, SP5 Diesel Mechanic); her father, mother, sisters, brothers, and her eldest son in Vietnam.

Survivors include her children, Johnny Phan Valdez (Senior Software Developer and Integrator), Ramon Phan Valdez (Nuclear Instrument and Control Senior Tech and Licensed Nuclear Instructor), Le T. Phan Medina (Pediatric Nurse and Geriatric Supervisor), and Clemente Phan Valdez Jr. (Owner Operator Vonboo Enterprise, LLC); daughters-in-law, Rocio Valdez, Phuong Valdez, and Jennifer Valdez; son-in-law, Jose Medina, Sr.; grandchildren, Minh Tan Valdez, Jose Medina, Jr., Steven Valdez, Ramon Medina, Kevin Valdez, Luis Sanchez, Lisa Lyla Medina, Mia Sanchez, and Ryan Valdez; her great-grandchildren, Helena Valdez and Serenity V. Medina; her brother-in-law, Ramon M. Valdez; nephew, Ramon Valdez; niece, Belinda Valdez; cousins, Ernest Ibarra Family, Roland Ibarra Family, Delia Ibarra Family, and Veronica Ibarra Family; and her growing family in Vietnam of nephews, nieces, and cousins.
