Dorina M. Gonzalez

Dorina M. Gonzalez, 79, entered into eternal rest with the Lord, her Savior, on Thursday, Sept. 17, 2015, at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville, Texas.

Dorina was born in 1936 in Brownsville, Texas. She graduated from Brownsville High School in 1954. Upon graduation she entered the U.S. Army serving her country proudly and earning an Honorable Discharge for her service. Upon returning home, she became an Airline Stewardess for Pan American World Airways, a job she enjoyed for nine years.

Following her high interest in education, Dorina enrolled at Texas A& I University in Kingsville and earned a BS and Master's Degree in Education. Dorina served our community and touched the lives of countless of students as a teacher and Migrant Supervisor with the BISD retiring in 1996.

Dorina was happiest when she was traveling especially to Las Vegas, New York City, Alaska, Canada, and Puerto Rico. At home in Rancho Viejo, Dorina loved to garden, cook, play the guitar and piano, sing and dance. Her favorite pastime was playing Tripoli and Mexican train with her family and friends.

Dorina loved her family and all people she crossed paths with. She never met a stranger. She gave her today…for our tomorrow. Dorina was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed not only by her family and friends but by all those fortunate to have known her.

Dorina is pre-deceased by her parents, Pablo and Florencia Gonzalez and a brother, Sergio A. Gonzalez.

Left behind to cherish her memory is her Best Friend, Sister, and Partner, Diane Elder Garza; a sister, Carmen (Juan J.+) Lerma; two brothers: Pablo "Paul" (Lupita+) Gonzalez and Jose Arnoldo (Yolanda+); her nieces: Ana Leticia Espino, Carmen Lerma, and Lupita G. Arguelles; her nephews: John J. Lerma M.D., Hector R. Lerma, Paul A. Gonzalez, Arnold Lopez, and Joseph S. Lopez along with numerous other extended family members and a host of friends.
