Eloisa Fernandez Gonzalez

LOS FRESNOS, TX. – Eloisa Fernandez Gonzalez entered into eternal on Thursday, the 15th of June 2023 in the comfort of her Los Fresnos residence surrounded by her loving family. She was ninety-four years of age.

Sra. Gonzalez was born in Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mexico on April 15, 1929, daughter of the late Pedro Fernandez and Maria De Lourdez Jimenez Fernandez. She was a longtime resident of Brownsville, Texas and held a Bachelor’s Degree in Business and a degree in Religious Education. A devout Catholic, Sra. Gonzalez served as a Lay Ministry Program facilitator for the Catholic Diocese of Brownsville. She also served as a catechist at church and was a faithful parishioner of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Brownsville. Her favorite pastimes included painting, sewing, and gardening.

Preceding Sra. Gonzalez in death was her beloved husband, Sr. Jose Maria Gonzalez; and her parents, Pedro Fernandez and Maria De Lourdez Fernandez.

Survivors include her children Fr. George Gonzalez, Jose M. Gonzalez, and Esther Bruce (Jerry); and her twelve grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, the 17th of June 2023 between the hours of ten o’clock in the morning and twelve noon, with a recitation of the holy rosary to begin at half past ten o'clock Saturday morning within the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ten o’clock in the morning on Monday, the 19th of June 2023 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 1914 Barnard Road, Brownsville. Cremation will immediately follow the mass.

The family will gather for a private inurnment at the Buena Vista Burial Park Mausoleum in Brownsville, where Sra. Gonzalez will be laid to rest beside her husband.
