Griselda Garcia Medina

BROWNSVILLE, TX. – Griselda Garcia Medina, 86, of Brownsville, Texas entered into eternal rest on Monday, the 17th of May 2021 in Brownsville, Texas.

Griselda was born on January 13, 1935 in Brownsville, Texas to her parents, Domingo and Abelina Saldana Garcia. She married her beloved husband Esteban Medina on September 20, 1953. Griselda worked in the Food Nutrition Department of Brownsville Independent School District for over twenty-two years until her retirement. In her spare time, she enjoyed tending to her garden with her green thumb and beautiful plants. Fishing was another favorite pastime, in addition to gambling, cooking, and baking. Her tamales, cookies, and apple crisps were some of her favorites.

She was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband of sixty-four years, Esteban Medina, in 2017 and by her parents, Domingo and Abelina Garcia.

Griselda is survived by her children Diana Mae Medina, Mary Bertha Stevens (Ruben Galvan), Blanca Aguilar (Roberto), Edna Iris Oceguera (Jesse +), Rosalinda Morales (Antonio), and Ruben Rene Medina; fourteen grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, as well as her four sisters and one brother.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, the 20th of May 2021 between the hours of two o’clock in the afternoon and seven o'clock at night, with the recitation of the holy rosary to be recited at seven o'clock Thursday night within the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ten o'clock in the morning on Friday, the 21st of May 2021 at St. Luke Catholic Church, 2800 Rockwell Drive, Brownsville, Texas 78521. Friday services will conclude at the church following the mass.

A Graveside Service will be held at ten o’clock in the morning on Wednesday, the 26th of May 2021 at Buena Vista Burial Park, 5 McDavitt Boulevard, Brownsville, Texas 78521.
