With great sadness in our hearts, we are announcing the loss of Horacio P. Sanchez, 87, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle who entered into the glory of his eternal life on Thursday, July 30, 2020, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
“Lacho”, as he was affectionately known to all by, was a native and lifetime resident of Brownsville. He was a proud US Army veteran, having served our country honorably during the Korean Conflict. Lacho was a dedicated employee of the Food Service Dept. with the Brownsville Independent School District. He retired after 34 years of faithful service.
Before his retirement, Lacho, built a room adjacent to his home, creating a small candy store that he catered and enjoyed the company of his customers for 38 years. Before and after his retirement, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed watching cartoons with the kids as well as watching them grow up.
Lacho was preceded in death by his parents: Francisca P. and Pedro B. Sanchez; 3 sisters: Victoria, Ofelia, and Carolina and 5 brothers: Felipe, Antonio, Santiago, Francisco and Pedro Sanchez Jr.
Lacho was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed not only by his family and friends but by all those fortunate to have known him.
Lacho is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 65 years, Florencia Moya Sanchez as well as his 12 children: Zoila (Abran) Escobedo, Miguel (Bernardina) Sanchez, Pedro (Beatriz) Sanchez, Horacio Sanchez Jr., Rosario Sanchez, Victor (Diana) Sanchez, Juanita (Richard) Sanchez, Emilio (Sylvia) Sanchez, Raul Sanchez, Virginia Sanchez, Rafael (Lynn) Sanchez, and Dolores (Javier) Orive, along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lacho will also be missed by his sisters: Virginia Diego, Guadalupe (Efrain) Solis, and Elisa (Jerry) Royer and his brothers: Juan Carlos, Armando Enrique, and Ruben Luis (Berta) Sanchez along with numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 4th, 2020, and continue through 7:00 p.m. There will be a chapel service at 4:00 p.m., followed by military honors rendered by the VFW Post #2035 and immediately following honors, the recitation of the holy rosary.
Because of this current Pandemic, your patience and cooperation will be greatly appreciated in adhering to the following mandatory safety protocols when attending the services at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home:
· The practice of proper social distancing is critical for protecting the health of all attendees, funeral home staff and the clergy/celebrants.
· The wearing of protective masks at all times while in the funeral home as well as social distancing.
· We are asking guests to scale back direct contact with the family and other attendees, including not shaking hands, hugging or kissing, etc.
