BROWNSVILLE, TX. - Iota “Ota” Ionie Lake-Bossé entered into eternal rest on Sunday, the 5th of July 2026 in Brownsville. She was 73 years of age.
Ota was born on April 1, 1953, on the beautiful Eastern Caribbean Island of Anguilla to the late Charles Leopold Rey-Lake and Dora Elin Webster-Lake of East End, Anguilla.
From an early age, Ota possessed a natural appreciation for beauty, elegance, and the finer things in life. She began her education at East End Primary School before relocating to St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, in the late 1960s. There, she attended Charlotte Amalie High School and pursued studies in cosmetology.
Ota began her professional journey in the beauty industry. She later found her true calling in retail and hospitality, where her graceful manner, warm smile, and welcoming spirit allowed her to connect easily with others. She worked at Little Switzerland Jewelers and at several restaurants and hospitality establishments on St. Thomas, leaving a lasting impression on the customers, coworkers, and friends she encountered along the way.
After relocating to Texas, Ota embraced her entrepreneurial spirit and achieved her dream of owning and operating her own restaurant, Wings Lounge. Through her business, she was able to combine her love of hospitality with her natural gift for making others feel welcome.
Ota was the loving mother of two children: her beloved daughter, Melissa, who preceded her in death, and her devoted son, Tron Robert Bossé, a proud United States Marine.
Family remained at the heart of Ota’s life. She shared a special bond with her four sisters and two brothers, whose families are connected throughout the U.S. Virgin Islands, Florida, and Maryland. She treasured the time she spent with those she loved and was known for her gentle spirit, quiet strength, generous heart, and steadfast devotion to her family.
Ota’s soft-spoken nature was matched by the strength of her love. In addition to being a dedicated wife, and mom, she cared deeply for her children, grandchildren, siblings, aunt, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, extended family members, and dear friends. Her kindness was sincere, her generosity came naturally, and her presence brought comfort to those around her.
Ota leaves to cherish her memory her loving son, Tron Robert Bossé; her granddaughters, Destiny Isabella Bossé, Taina Melissa Bossé, and Adalyn Mya Bossé; her grandsons, Tron Bossé, Jr. and Terrence Carter Bossé; her sisters, Everet Lake-Davis, R. Andina Ruan, Madelyn Lake-Thomas, and Ermine Queen; her brothers, Timothy Lake, Averly Lake, and Derick Lake; her sister-in-law, Robin Lake; brothers-in-law, Iran Ruan, Terence Thomas, and Reginald Queen; nieces, Chanel Boschulte, Chanina Dudley, Trisha Davis, Esha Moore, Myoshi Antoine, Tiffany Lake, Avanna Lake, and Ariel Lake; her nephews, Hank Burton, Trevor Lake, Travis Davis, Kurtney Davis, Aron Ruan, Aneil Ruan, Jade Moore, Timothy Lake II, Philip Lake, Tivon Lake, and Averly Lake II; her aunt, Olive Hodge and children; the children of: Hubert Webster, James Ronald Webster, Edith Webster, Florrel Harrigan, Rose Gladys Rabsatt, and Ursula Webster, Moline Thomas, Vera De Weever, Beatrice Rey, Alanta Rey, and Fred Rey; also related to the: Webster’s, Rey’s, Smith’s, Harrigan’s, Ruan’s, Gumb’s, Duncan’s, and the Island Harbour and Mount Fortune communities in Anguilla; extended families in St. Thomas and Texas; and many great nieces, great nephews, and many other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
Though her physical presence will be deeply missed, the love she shared, the lessons she taught, and the memories she created will continue to live in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Her life was filled with love which leaves a legacy that will live on forever. Rest peacefully, Ota. Your beautiful spirit will remain with us always.
