Jack G. Peters

BROWNSVILLE, TX. – Jack G. Peters went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, the 21st of July, 2020 at the age of 91. He was born in Troy, Ohio on October 24, 1928. Jack was a successful business owner, selling his printing business to retire. He was also an avid boater, fisherman, and golfer. Jack was devoted to spending time with his family and friends. He was committed to helping anyone in need around him and mentoring others.

Jack was an only child and was preceded in death by both his mother, Irma Kindy Peters, and his father, William Peters, and by his son, Douglas, all from Troy, Ohio.

He is survived by two daughters, Cynthia (Larry) Sanders of Merriam, Kansas and Susan (James) Bryant of Libertyville, Illinois; four grandchildren: Luke Sanders of Overland Park, Kansas, Lindsey (Drew) Harrison of Austin, Texas, Amber (Brandon) Colon of Boston, Massachusetts, and Christopher Bryant of Chicago, Illinois; and one great-grandson, Ezra Harrison of Austin, Texas.

Jack started each day reviewing a daily reflection. The reflection for the day he went to be with the Lord speaks of his life: I am learning to let go and let God, to have a mind that is open and a heart that is willing to receive God’s grace in all my affairs; in this way I can experience the peace and freedom that come as a result of surrender. It has been proven that an act of surrender originating in desperation and defeat, can grow into ongoing act of faith and that faith means freedom and victory.

A service to celebrate Jack’s life will be held when it is safe for us to gather together again. As we wait that opportunity, Jack would want us to remain focused on and committed to the good we can do for each other now - everyday.
