Was born in 1925 in San Antonio, TX, to Marguerite and Ralph Stone. Ralph was a Pan American pilot and when Janice was a young child they relocated to Tampico, Mexico, where she lived for many years. Her mother home schooled Janice and her sister Jean and brother Bobby. During these years she developed a love of reading and an interest in the world. She was fluent in Spanish and developed a keen understanding of the culture of Mexico and the border. Captain Stone was relocated to Brownsville, TX, in 1936, where she attended school and graduated from Brownsville High School in 1944. She and her friends kept their spirits up even though most of the boys were away in the service during WWII. After graduation she attended Stevens College in Colombia, Missouri.

Janice married John A. "Jack" Goolsby in 1946, who had just returned home from WWII as apilot in the U.S. Army Air Corps. They had four children: Mary, Marguerite, Theresa and John. Jack rejoined the Air Force and they were stationed all over the world and the U.S including: Garmisch, Germany; Azores, Portugal; San Antonio, Hickam AFB, Honolulu, Hawaii; Wichita Falls, TX; Altus, OK; Glasgow, MT; Montgomery, AL; and Rantoul, IL. Following Jack's retirement in 1970, they lived briefly in Austin and then returned to their hometown Brownsville. Janice was active in the Pan American Round Table, Charro Days, St. Joseph's Academy Boosters and was a member of St. Mary's and Sacred Heart Parishes. After Jack's death in 1988, she married Roselle Clegg. They lived in Brownsville until his death in 1998. She then moved to Houston, TX, where met and married Charles Rovello in 2004, until his death in 2010. She spent the last years of her life in San Antonio at the Village at Incarnate Word.

She is predeceased by her parents, sister, Jean Perkins, brother, Bobby Stone, and grandson, John Dawson. She is survived by Mary and Robert (Hays), San Antonio, TX; Marguerite and Mike (Krenek), Austin, TX; Theresa and Wayne (Allen), Austin, TX; and John and Carol Goolsby of McAllen,TX; her grandchildren: Elizabeth Bradley, Alan Dawson, Patrick Hays, Will Dawson, Ana Allen, Alex Allen, Jay Goolsby, Peter Goolsby, and Julia Goolsby; and great-grandchildren: Henry, Charlotte (Bradley); Kade, Kynlee, Kasen,(Hays); and Ryan and Andrew (Dawson).

Visitation will be on Friday, July 30, 2016, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with the recitation of the holy rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home East Chapel. The Funeral Mass will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 30, 2016, at Sacred Heart Church, 602 E. Elizabeth St. Committal services will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.
Janice's grandsons are honored to be serving as her pallbearers. Michael Stone and Fred W. Rusteberg will serve as honorary pallbearers.
