Javier Garza Cardenas

Javier Garza Cardenas, 62, of Brownsville, entered into eternal rest at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Brownsville on Thursday, February 4, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Felix Garza and Carmen Cardenas Garza.

Javier was a devoted husband and father who loved God and life. His particular interests being Western and Mexican movies, barbecuing, dancing, cooking and fixing things. One of his favorite movies was Grease. He especially loved music by Elvis, Tom Jones and James Brown. His most significant pleasure was singing Happy Birthday to family members. He was always concerned for his family's welfare. His home was his world.

We will always admire Javier's strength, wisdom, patience and resilience. He was amazing, not just during his illness, but throughout his life. We bore witness to a wonderful man whose lasting imprint was unconditional love. We will miss him dearly.

Left to eternally treasure their memories of him are his devoted and loving wife of 36 years, Belinda Garza; his two sons, Javier Garza, Jr and Jarred Christian Garza (Cristal Sanchez); two brothers, Saul and Francisco Garza; and three sisters, Aminta, Leticia and Mireya.

Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, February 7, 2016 with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 8, 2016 in the Chapel at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home with Pastor Beau Hesterberg officiating.
All services will conclude in the chapel Monday morning.

Javier's family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the team of doctors and nurses at Valley Baptist Medical Center-Brownsville and to the Gentiva Hospice caregivers for the wonderful and compassionate care given to their loved one.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Javier's memory to the American Cancer Society.
