José Javier Zuniga

José Javier Zuniga, 79, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather entered into the glory of his eternal life on Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at Valley Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.

José was preceded in death by his parents, Maria de Jes&uacutesa and José D. Zuniga; his brothers: Carlos, Hector, and Efrain Zuniga; and his sisters: Yolanda Coronado, Juanita Solitaire, and Petra Martinez.

José is survived by his wife of 56 years; Josefina G. Zuniga; his children; Hernando (Veronica) Zuniga, Fabian Zuniga, Blanca (Alfredo) Gomez, Celeste (Margarito) Maldonado, Esmeralda Zuniga (Art Cantu); 11 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; in addition to numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 8, 2016, from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the recitation of the holy rosary at 7:00 p.m. in the East Chapel at Darling Mouser Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 2645 Tulipan St., Brownsville, Texas. Committal services will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Zuniga's sons, Hernando & Fabian along with his grandsons: Daniel, Hernando Jr, and Sylvester James Zuniga, and Andy Maldonado are honored to be serving as his pallbearers. Alfredo Gomez, Margarito Maldonado, and Art Cantu will serve as honorary pallbearers.
