Jose "Joe" Cecilio Garza

BROWNSVILLE, TX. - Jose Cecilio Garza, affectionately known as Joe, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, the 22nd of July 2025 at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville. He was 68 years of age.

Joe was born on December 24, 1956 in Brownsville, Texas, son of the late Cecilio Amezola and Guadalupe Rodriguez, and was raised by his parents, Santos and Amelia Garza. He was a graduate of Brownsville High School and later attended Texas Southmost College. A proud veteran, Joe served eight years in the United States Army. His favorite pastimes included reading and watching TV and he was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys. 

Preceding Joe in death were his wife, Belinda Garza; his parents, Santos and Amelia Garza and Cecilio Amezola and Guadalupe Rodriguez; and his sibilings Rosa Maria Vasquez, Roberto Vasquez, Rodolfo Garza, and Guilibaldo Garza.

Survivors include his daughter, Ana Garza; and his siblings, Elvia M. Houser, David Amezola, Frank Garza, Ninfa Garza-Menke, and Francisco Garza.

Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, the 26th of July 2025 between the hours of three o'clock in the afternoon and nine o'clock at night, with a blessing and recitation of the holy rosary to commence at seven o'clock Saturday evening within the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home. All services will conclude Saturday night. Cremation will follow.

Inurnment with military honors will be held at ten o'clock in the morning on Saturday, the 9th of August 2025 within the family cemetery, Alejandro Garza Cemetery, 10276 US Military Highway, Villa Cavazos, Texas.
