Jose E. Martinez, 85, of Brownsville, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Brownsville, Texas on July 23, 1933. He graduated from Brownsville High School in 1951 and attended Texas Southmost College where he earned his Associates Degree in Business Administration.

He served as a corporal in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and served as a lecturer for 42 years, a member of the Serra Club and the Rotary Club for 40 years. He volunteered as an auxillary at VBMC for 17 years.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Olivia C. Martinez and daughter, Beatriz A. Pappas.

He is survived by his two sons; Henry (Miriam) Martinez, Jaime (Kathy) Martinez; two daughters, Annalisa (Beau) Hollingsworth, Clarissa Martinez, son-in-law, Gregory F. Pappas, one brother, Robert Martinez; three sisters, Elisa Rousset, Graciela Pineda, Irma Saucedo, eight grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Sunday February 03, 2019 with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 04, 2019 at St. Mary's Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. Internment will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.
