BROWNSVILLE, TX. – Juan Alfredo “Fred” Cerda entered into eternal rest on Saturday, the 13th of September 2025 in the comfort of his Brownsville residence surrounded by his loving family. He was 89 years of age.

He then moved home to Brownsville where he began his employment with the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) for the next eight years until his retirement in 1999.
A proud veteran, Fred served in the United States Navy for four years and fought in the Korean War. Fred was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys win or lose, and he was always eagerly waiting for their next game.
Preceding Fred in death are his wife, Mary Jane Cerda; his parents, Guadalupe and Genoveva Cerda; and his brother, Guadalupe “Pito” Cerda.
