BROWNSVILLE, TX. – Kenneth M. Walker, Jr., age 85, of San Clemente, California passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2021, peacefully at his home. He was born in Salem, Ohio on July 20, 1935 to Kenneth M. Walker and Gertrude J. Brison Walker. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Donna Jean Sheatley and Linda Denise Koval, and a brother, William T. Walker.
Ken lived in Louisville and Hartville, Ohio. He was a 1954 graduate of Louisville High School. After graduation he joined the United States Air Force and served four and a half years. He was stationed in Austin, Texas where he became an avid fan of the Texas Longhorns. Upon his release of active duty, he immediately enrolled at Texas A&I University in Kingsville, Texas. He graduated with a Bachelor of Administration degree in 1962. After moving to Brownsville, Texas, Ken became a salesman for CC Wholesale Hardware in Corpus Christi, Texas before joining Callaway Ice and Fuel in Port Isabel, Texas, and then going back to sales while living on South Padre Island, Texas. Ken was a member of First Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon. He was a member of the Texas Shrimp Association, where he served on the Board. He also served as President of the St. Joseph Academy Athletic Booster Club.
Ken’s memory will live on by those who survive him; his beloved wife of 49 years, Jamie L’Oran Callaway Walker; his sister, Mary Lou Walker Mockamer; his sons Robert C. (Natasha) Walker, James E. (Dokie) Walker, and Douglas O. Walker; his daughters, Jannin M. (Sean) O’Connor and Melissa L. (Matthew) Meyer; and grandchildren Kyle (Danielle)Walker, Katie Walker, Rachel Walker, Audrey Walker, Sydney Walker, Cody Zepeda, Kenzi O’Connor, Kaleb O’Connor, Christopher Meyer, and Kiera Meyer.
A Special Thank You to Rev. Ed Robertson, who helped guide Ken through a dark stage in his life. The family would like to thank all the Memorial Care Staff for their special care for the last two years.
A graveside service will be held at 9:30 A.M. on Wednesday, March 03, 2021 at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4464 Old Port Isabel Road, Brownsville, Texas 78526. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2035.
