Laura P. Fincher

Laura Paige Stout Fincher passed away on November 5, 2018, following a strong but short fight against cancer. She is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Harry; and her best friend, her lovable dog, Petee.

Laura was born on March 17, 1953, in Sherman, Texas to Dr. and Mrs. Joe Henry Stout. Laura graduated from Sherman High School and went on to receive a B.A. in Political Science at the University of North Texas and then moved to Austin to continue her education at the University of Texas. Laura moved to South Padre Island in 1980s where she was successfully self-employed with her own business. Laura loved living on South Padre Island. She loved to be with her friends, be it traveling, helping to host the "Martian Party" held each year in the neighborhood, a book club, a movie or just spending time on the beach with them. Her nieces and nephews will always remember the fabulous all night tv slumber parties.

Laura is survived by Diane Stout of Houston, Texas; Randy and Jennifer Stout of Denton, Texas; Anna and Marvin Hagemeier of Carrollton, Texas; and Norman and Bradley Stout of Phoenix, Arizona. Nieces and nephews, who loved their Aunt Laura dearly, include Tricia and Eric Ebel, Joe Stout, Addie Stout, Stephen Buell, and Thomas Buell. Laura also leaves behind wonderful friends and great neighbors.

The family wishes to thank all those that so carefully watched over and took care of her especially her neighbors and the "Friday Lunch/Movie Group". We also thank the nurses and doctors who took such good care of Laura at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville, Texas.

Private memorial services will be held later on South Padre Island and at the family farm in Sherman, Texas. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Friends of Animal Rescue on South Padre Island in memory of Laura Fincher, 4908 Padre Blvd, South Padre Island, TX 78597 or your favorite animal charity.
