Lilia E. Hinojosa

Lilia Elizondo Hinojosa passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at the age of 96.

Lilia was born to Reynaldo Elizondo Gutiérrez and Maria Dolores Rodriguez in Cadereyta Jiménez in México. She is preceded in death by her husband Heriberto and her son Javier, her brothers Reynaldo, Ramiro, Gilberto, Romeo, and her sisters Matilde and Elvira.

Lilia lived a long and fruitful life. She found pride and joy in the accomplishments of her children, her husband, and the family business that she, her husband, and her children spent 32 years building — Hinojosa Auto Parts. She was an intelligent, loyal, and hardworking individual, who would always lend a hand to someone in need.

Lilia had no shortage of energy, enthusiasm, and dedication.  She spent most of her life raising her 5 children, spending time with her parents and siblings in México, and enjoying her grandchildren. Her energy and intelligence translated into her work as an administrator at the family business. It was here that she created her Hinojosa Auto Parts work family who all lovingly referred to her as “Mrs. H.”- La Patrona.

Lilia’s faith in God was the central part of her marriage, her family and in her day-to-day life. In her final days she continued praying the rosary and speaking to God every morning, every evening, and in the quiet moments of her day. She would often teach her grandchildren prayers, especially Ángel De La Guarda, and would recite it with them whenever they spent time together.

Lilia’s primary purpose and passion in life was her family. To love her family, and to be in service to them any way she could and whatever that meant for the changing roles of her 96 years of life — as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, businesswoman,  grandmother and beyond.

While Lilia had her strength and mobility, she was always on the go, refusing to slow down or sit down. You could always find her making her famous empanadas and pastelitos for her grandchildren, playing dominoes and cards with her loved ones, advising her family by sharing one of her favorite quotes, and reminding them that God is the final and only judge that matters.

While this is a tremendous loss for all those who loved her, we know she is happily reunited with her husband, son, parents, and brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her children Maria Graciela Hinojosa de Aguado (†Tomas), Jorge Hinojosa, Lilia Hinojosa de Villarreal (Gerardo), and Jaime Hinojosa (Salomona). She is survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
