BROWNSVILLE, TX. - Lillian Flores passed into eternal rest on Saturday, the 10th of January 2026, in Brownsville, Texas, at the age of 83. Her life was defined by a fierce love of her family and friends and a dedication to education.
Lillian was born and lived nearly her whole life in Brownsville, Texas. She graduated from Brownsville High School in 1962 and earned her degree in Education from Pan American University, even as she was a dedicated mother to her two sons. She then taught hundreds of elementary school children in public and private schools in Brownsville. A devout Catholic, Lillian was a longtime parishioner at St. Luke Catholic Church, where she taught CCD.
Lillian built her life around her family. She was married to Ernesto J. Flores, the love of her life, who survives her. They shared an unshakable devotion to each other every day for over 62 years.
Lillian was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother. She was a proud mother of two sons, Richard D. Flores of San Antonio, Texas, and his wife Kristie M. Flores, and Thomas E. Flores of Washington, D.C., and his wife Porter McConnell. She was also a doting grandmother to Andrew J. Flores and his wife Kaitlyn Flores and Jonathan R. Flores of San Antonio, Texas, and Cat Flores-McConnell of Washington, D.C. Given her love of education, she was especially proud to see her sons and older grandchildren pursue graduate degrees in music education, political science, architecture, and law.
Lillian was preceded in death by her mother, Maria D. “Santitos” Moran; her father, Lorenzo Moran; her brother, Roy T. Moran; and by her son, James A. Flores.
