BROWNSVILLE, TX. – Linda de Luna de Lachica, loving mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, and friend entered into eternal rest on Monday, the 21st of November 2022.

Linda was born on the 30th of July 1939 in Brownsville, Texas to her parents, Roberto de Luna and Sophia Franklin Shears. She attended Villa Maria High School in Brownsville, and Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, Texas where she completed her Bachelor’s degree in Education. After spending several years teaching in Houston, Texas and spending a few years in San Antonio while her husband was in the U.S. Army, she and her husband Robert moved to Brownsville in 1967 where she undertook a teaching position with the Brownsville Independent School District. She taught at R.L. Martin Elementary School for several years before opening Jo-Lyn Casuals, a retail clothing store in downtown Brownsville. The business was in operation until the mid-1980s when Linda decided to return to her love of children and teaching. She went on to teach for many more years at Russell Elementary School teaching from 3rd grade to pre-kinder until finally retiring from teaching in 2003 to assist her husband with his business.

A devout Catholic, she was an active parishioner of St. Mary, Mother of the Church and Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. In her spare time, Linda enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
