Linda E. Gorena

SAN ANTONIO, TX. – Linda E. Gorena entered into eternal rest on Sunday, the 21st of November 2021 in the comfort of her home in San Antonio surrounded by family at the age of ninety-three.

Linda lived out her solid faith in Jesus Christ. She showed her love by extending kindness, generosity, and joy not only to her family, but to all. Linda was a licensed vocational nurse who worked for Dr. T. A. Kinder for over thirty years and worked at Mercy Hospital in Brownsville. She also was a teacher’s aide at Garza Elementary in Brownsville for some time.

Preceding Linda in death were her parents, Dionicio Juan Gorena and Fidela Escobedo Gorena, and her siblings: twin sister Irene Gorena, Dario Gorena, Dora Gorena, Dorcas Gorena, Dionicio Juan Gorena II (killed in action – Korea), Eduardo Gorena (Dora +), Juan J. Gorena, Dionicio Juan Gorena III, Irene Balli Cavazos (Octaviano +), and Ninfa Gorena Rivera (Eloy Roberto +).

Survivors include her siblings Fidela Gorena, David J. Gorena (Debbie), Dora E. Zavaleta (Roberto V.), Delia G. Hampe (W. Robert), Delfina Eberle, Diana Saltzman (Alan), and Diego J. Gorena (Dina); in addition to numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, and extended family members.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, the 30th of November 2021 between the hours of five o’clock in the afternoon and nine o’clock at night, with a Celebration of Life Service to begin at seven o’clock Tuesday evening within the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home.

Visitation will resume on Wednesday, the 1st of December 2021 beginning at twelve noon with a Chapel Service to commence at half past one o’clock in the afternoon. Interment will then follow at Buena Vista Burial Park, 5 McDavitt Boulevard, Brownsville, where Linda will be laid to rest at three o’clock in the afternoon.
