Lucas Rivera Leal

Lucas Rivera Leal Sr., 81, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather entered into eternal rest Monday, September 20, 2021, at his residence in Brownsville, Texas.

Lucas was a native and lifetime resident of Brownsville. He was a devoted and loyal employee of the USDA and worked for them for numerous years before retiring to enjoy the fruits of his labor. In his spare time, Lucas loved to go fishing. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Lucas was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed not only by his family and friends but by all those fortunate to have known him.

Lucas was preceded in death by a son, Lucas Leal Jr.; his parents, Manuela and Francisco Leal and 2 sisters: Teresa Leal and Hilaria Leal.

Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of him is his loving and devoted wife of 65 years, Florinda Garcia Leal; the 5 daughters that he was very proud of: Julia Leal (Noe) Villarreal, Mary Ann (Doug) Connell, Yolanda Leal (Ruben+) Rivera, Ophelia Leal, and Mary Jane (Joe) Macias; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren, and the great-great-grandchild that he was anxiously waiting to meet. He will also be missed by his numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Visitation will be on Monday, September 27, 2021, in the East Chapel at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a prayer service scheduled for 7:00 pm Monday evening to be officiated by Pastor Paulino Bernal, Jr. The Funeral Mass is scheduled for 2:00 pm on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at Christ the King Catholic Church. Committal services will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.
