RANCHO VIEJO, TX. - Luis Rodriguez, affectionately known as Louie, entered into eternal rest on Monday, the 20th of July 2026 at Sunshine Haven in Olmito surrounded by his family. He was 87 years of age.

Louie was born on May 18, 1939, in Brownsville, Texas, son of the late Jose Rodriguez and Francisca Flores Rodriguez. He graduated from Brownsville High School in 1959 and went on to Texas Southmost College where he studied engineering and received numerous engineering certifications. He retired from Brownsville P.U.B. after 30 years of employment as an engineer. His passion in life was music and often, if you were lucky, you would find him singing at C&C Wings, The Galaxy Bowling Center, and Cobbleheads. He also enjoyed all kinds of sports. With a deep devotion to Christ, Louie would pray the rosary daily.

Preceding Louie in death are his parents, Jose Rodriguez and Francisca Flores Rodriguez; his stepmother, Maria Luisa Rodriguez; and his siblings, Juanito Rodriguez, Desiderio Rodriguez( Mary) Rosa Bettaglia (Sam+), Mary Garcia ( Gilbert+ ), and Deacon Arturo “Art” F. Rodriguez( Sara).

Louie is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 34 years, Beatrice Villarreal Rodriguez; his children, George Rodriguez (Malissa), Lucy Cushing (Eddie), Jaime Rodriguez, Louie Rodriguez, Jr., Cindy Flores, Letty Villarreal, and Robert Villarreal; his grandchildren, Zachary Rodriguez, Ariane R. Sanchez (Santiago), Kalissa R. Fernandez (Mark), Matias Cervantes (Jenny), Julian Cervantes IV (Kayla), Victoria Turano (Joseph), Virginia Black (Kiel), Aaron Rodriguez, and Ashley Rodriguez; 16 great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Jose Rodriguez (Mary), Frances Gonzalez (Raul+), Magdalena Marquez (Richard), Alberto Rodriguez (Mary Alice), Noe Rodriguez (Maria Guevara), and Teresa M. Rodriguez (JoAnne); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members including a large amount of dear and close friends.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, the 24th of July 2026 between the hours of two o'clock in the afternoon and nine o'clock at night, with a recitation of the holy rosary to be recited at six o'clock Friday evening within the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home. All services will conclude Friday night. Cremation will follow.
