Magdalena "Nina" Maldonado

Magdalena Maldonado, 44, beloved mother, daughter, sister, cousin, and friend entered into the glory of her eternal life on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Brownsville.

Nina, as she was affectionately known to all, was a native and lifetime resident of Brownsville. Nina was an exceptional cook/baker who loved collecting recipes that she could prepare for her family and friends. Nina loved going to the beach, to the movies, and dancing and even danced in her room at the hospital! Nina enjoyed spending time with her cousin, Veronica Olvera who was like a second sister to her.

Nina was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed not only by her family and friends but by all those fortunate to have known her.

Nina was preceded in death by her step-father, Sacramento Mejia; her materal grandparents: Margarita V. and Juan G. Olvera; her paternal grandfather, Joe Maldonaldo and her maternal uncles, Charlie and Javier Olvera.

Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of Nina are the 3 daughters that were her pride and joy: Amber Nichole, Natalia Nayelli, and Charlene Naomy Flores; her loving mother, Margarita Olvera Mejia; her sister: Margaret I. Mejia and her wife Laura Mejia; her father, Cypriano E. Maldonado and her paternal grandmother, Maria T. Maldonado. Nina will also be missed by her 3 “Fur” babies: Nala, Nugget, and Peanut along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and extended family members.
