Manuela Cisneros Gómez

BROWNSVILLE, TX.

BROWNSVILLE, TX. – It is with deep sadness that we announce that Manuela Cisneros Gomez, a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, entered peacefully into eternal rest on Tuesday, the 16th of December 2025, at the age of 89, surrounded by her loving family.

Manuela was born on February 19, 1936, at Rancho Las Comas, the youngest of five siblings born to the late Don Gustavo Cisneros and Manuela Garza.

Manuela was a kind, generous, and loving woman of quiet strength, a caring heart, and selfless love. After losing her husband Julian at the age of 27, she wholeheartedly devoted her life to her five young daughters. With the loving help of her father-in-law, they filled their childhood with unwavering and unconditional love, kindness, and resilience, instilling in them lifelong lessons and values.

A caregiver at heart, she was willing and ready to help family in their time of need. She was a talented seamstress in her younger years, creating beautiful outfits for her daughters, a skill a couple of them learned by watching her sew. She was also a great cook, whether it was for a few or for a big crowd, her delicious meals were always sure to please. This was a skill she proudly passed down to each one of her daughters.

In her later years, she enjoyed watching her family grow. She loved babies and took great pride and joy in the arrival of each new grandchild and great-grandchild. She enjoyed watching her favorite novelas, playing loteria with the family, and occasionally trying her luck at the maquinitas.

Though she is no longer with us, Manuela's generous spirit will continue to live on in our hearts. Her loving memory will forever be a source of comfort and inspiration for the family.

Preceding Manuela in death are her parents, Don Gustavo Cisneros and Manuela Garza; husband, Julian Gomez Trevino; her father-in-law Julian Gomez Alaniz; her mother-in-law, Enriqueta Trevino de Gomez; her brother, Felipe Cisneros; her sisters Adela Cisneros, Juanita Garza, Virginia Cisneros; and her son-in-law, Manuel Salinas, Jr.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving daughters, Manuela A. Garza (Emiliano), Griselda Sanchez (David), Sofia Cardenas (Juan Miguel), Elsa P. Alegria (Cipriano), and Vicenta Salinas (Manuel+); her grandchildren, Alma Cardoza (David), Cipi Alegria (Elsa), Cecilia Garza (Chad), Johnny Cardenas (Rosa), Elsa Garcia (Gabriel), Julian Manuel Salinas (Jazmin), Christy Martinez (Irving), Jose Luis Alegria (Anahi), Adrian Salinas (Ryann), and Daniel Garza (Allison); her great-grandchildren, Natalia, Daniela, Evan Mateo, and Ana Luisa Alegria, Emma Casas, Camila, Gianna, and Elianna Martinez, John Carlo and Matthew Cardenas, Sophia and Michael Cardoza, and Julian Jay Salinas; her brother, Gustavo Cisneros; as well as numerous nephews, nieces, and extended family.

The family would like to express their sincerest appreciation to the doctors, nursing staff, and everyone at Fox Hollow who took part in her care.

Special thanks to Julia Nicanor for going above and beyond, treating our mother with much love and respect.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ten o'clock in the morning on Tuesday, the 23rd of December 2025 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 1055 Military Road, Brownsville. Interment will then follow, via an escorted procession, at Buena Vista Burial Park, 5 McDavitt Boulevard, Brownsville.
