BROWNSVILLE, TX. – María del Carmen Barreda descansó en la paz del Señor el sábado 27 de junio de 2026 en Brownsville, Texas. Contaba con 84 años de edad.
Carmen nació el 3 de enero de 1942 en San Perlita, Texas, hija de los ahora fallecidos Silvestre Cantú Peña y Carmen Amaro. Laboró durante 26 años en New York Ladies Wear hasta el día de su jubilación.
La familia recibirá las condolencias de familiares y amistades el miércoles 1 de julio de 2026, de la una de la tarde a las ocho de la noche, en la Capilla Este de Darling-Mouser Funeral Home. El Santo Rosario será rezado a las seis de la tarde.
La Santa Misa de Cuerpo Presente será celebrada a las diez de la mañana del jueves 2 de julio de 2026 en la Iglesia Católica Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, ubicada en el 1200 de Lincoln Street, en Brownsville. Al concluir la celebración eucarística, se partirá en procesión hacia el Buena Vista Burial Park, ubicado en 5 McDavitt Boulevard, Brownsville, donde se llevará a cabo la sepultura.

BROWNSVILLE, TX. - Maria del Carmen Barreda entered into eternal rest on Saturday, the 27th of June 2026 in Brownsville. She was 84 years of age.
Carmen was born on January 3, 1942 in San Perlita, Texas, daughter of the late Silvestre Cantu Pena and Carmen Amaro. She worked at New York Ladies Wear for 26 years until her retirement.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, the 1st of July 2026 between the hours of one o'clock in the afternoon and eight o'clock at night, with the recitation of the holy rosary to be recited at six o'clock Wednesday evening within the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ten o'clock in the morning on Thursday, the 2nd of July 2026 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1200 Lincoln Street, Brownsville. Interment will then follow, via an escorted procession, at Buena Vista Burial Park, 5 McDavitt Boulevard, Brownsville.
