Maria Del Pilar Garza

Miss Maria del Pilar Garza, 94, died on Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2016, at Sunshine Haven in Olmito, Texas. Pilar was born in Brownsville and attended Incarnate Word Academy and Villa Maria High School. She was employed by First National Bank in Brownsville for 10 years before moving to Houston, Texas. There she continued her career in banking and foreign exchange for more than 40 years. Pilar returned to Brownsville in 1999.

Pilar was preceded in death by her parents, Nicolas A. and Rosa Garza of Brownsville; her brother, Antonio O. Garza of Brownsville; and her sisters: Maria del Socorro Garza de la Garza of Brownsville and Maria del Carmen Garza Colvin of Jacksonville, Texas. Pilar is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with the recitation of the holy rosary at 2:00 p.m., on Thursday, Nov. 10, 2016, at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home. Committal services will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.
