Maria Dora "Dorita" Russell

BROWNSVILLE, TX. - Maria Dora “Dorita” Russell, affectionately known as “Mami Dora” by her grandchildren and great-granddaughter, departed her loving family on the 23rd of March 2022 at the age of ninety-nine in the comfort of her residence.

Dorita was born in Nicaragua on January 25, 1923, daughter of Joaquin and Clara Rosa Morazan Gonzalez.

Preceding Dorita in death were her parents; her loving husband, Fenley Russell; and her daughter, Clara “Kalina” Reyes.

Dorita is survived by her eldest daughter, Vivien L. Diamond and her husband Bryan; her grandchildren, Carolina and Ronald; and her great-granddaughter, Olivia.

The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to Gail and Karen of Tropical Health Care and the staff and nurses of Kindred Hospice Care for their care and compassion.

The family will gather for a private funeral mass at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
