BROWNSVILLE, TX. – Minerva “Mane” Strubelt Saenz entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, the 8th of March 2023 quietly in her sleep in Columbus, Texas. She was ninety-two years of age.

Mane was born in Brownsville, Texas on October 31, 1930, daughter of the late Arthur W. Strubelt, Sr. and Anita Garza Strubelt. She attended Brownsville schools, graduating from Villa Maria High School. Soon after, she worked at First National Bank, later as Deputy for the U. S. District Clerk’s Office, and then served as Brownsville Branch Administrator with the Federal Public Defenders Office for the Southern District of Texas for over thirty years until her retirement. A devout Catholic, Mane was an avid parishioner of St. Mary, Mother of the Church.

Preceding Mane in death were her parents, Arthur W. Strubelt, Sr. and Anita Garza Strubelt; her brothers Arthur W. Strubelt, Jr., Alfred Max Strubelt, Sr., Robert John Strubelt, and Charles Edward Strubelt; her paternal grandparents, Max Strubelt and Thecla Haag Strubelt; her maternal grandparents, Manuel Garza and Maria Torregrosa Garza; and her five aunts and three uncles.

Survivors include her loving daughter, Sandra Saenz Barrios (José); her grandchildren A. Monique Yanez (Rudy), Josandi Martinez (Edward), and Grace Minshew (Michael); her great-grandchildren Jonathan Yanez, Rolando Yanez, and David Yanez; her siblings Hector Strubelt (Aurora), Cecilia Moody (Edward), and John Joe Strubelt (Lorena); in addition to numerous extended family members.

Visiting hour with the family will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 1914 Barnard Road, Brownsville, on Friday, the 31st of March 2023 at eleven o’clock in the morning with the memorial mass to begin promptly twelve noon. Inurnment will immediately follow the mass at Buena Vista Burial Park, 5 McDavitt Boulevard, Brownsville, where Mane will be laid to rest beside her parents.

The family kindly requests that turquoise, Minerva’s favorite color, be worn in her honor.

In lieu of floral arrangements and customary remembrances, the family requests donations in her memory be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, (956) 546-3800.
