BROWNSVILLE, TX. – Dr. Nora Montalvo-Liendo entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, the 21st of July 2026 in Brownsville, Texas. She was 70 years of age.

Nora was born on May 6, 1956, in San Benito, Texas, and had been a resident of Brownsville since 1974. She married Manuel Liendo Jr., on the 7th of October 1995.

A devout Catholic, Nora was a faithful parishioner of Immaculate Conception Cathedral. She embraced life with gratitude and found joy in bicycle riding, bird watching, dancing, and, above all, spending time with her four beloved grandchildren. Among her most cherished memories was a family vacation during which she went cliff jumping with them.

Committed to encouraging others, Nora authored a booklet of inspirational poems for survivors of trauma and was an active member of Friendship of Women. Dr. Liendo recently retired as a Professor of Nursing from the Texas A&M College of Nursing, where she dedicated many years to educating and mentoring future nurses.

Preceding Nora in death are her husband, Manuel Liendo, Jr.; her parents; and her siblings, Santiago Raul Garcia (Maria) and Mary Lou Garcia.

Survivors include her sons, Gabriel Carrizales (Maria) and Tony Joe Carrizales (Michelle); her grandchildren, Nadya Beatriz Carrizales, Oliver Sebastian Carrizales, Claudia Feliz Carrizales, and Warren Paz Carrizales; her siblings, Maria Teresa Rodriguez (Jose A.), Estela Perez (Ruben), Janie Martinez, Ricardo Montalvo (Irene), and Rene Montalvo (Norma); in addition to her numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.

Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, the 25th of July 2026 between the hours of ten o’clock in the morning and one o'clock in the afternoon, with the recitation of the holy rosary to be recited at twelve noon within the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at two o'clock in the afternoon at the historic Immaculate Conception Cathedral, 1218 E. Jefferson Street, Brownsville. Inurnment will then follow, via an escorted procession, at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4464 Old Port Isabel Road, Brownsville.

In lieu of floral arrangements and customary remembrances, contributions in honor of Nora may be directed to the Friendship of Women Empowerment Fund, 95 E. Price Rod, Brownsville, Texas 78521, (956) 544-7412 (www.fowinc.com).
