Olga G. Ortiz, 83, entered into the Kingdom of God on Saturday, April 28, 2018. Olga was born in Brownsville, Texas and was the daughter of the late Estela Delgado Guzman and J.O. Guzman.

Olga was a role model to her children and grandchildren. She was a courageous and kind person who dedicated her life to her family and was very involved in the activities of her children. Olga was a past president of the Senior League, as well as, past Board Member of the West Brownsville Little League. Olga graduated from Brownsville High School in 1952 and worked on many class reunions. Olga was a member of St. Luke's Catholic Church.

Olga retired from the Brownsville Independent School District after working for over 35 years as the superintendent and board secretary. After her retirement, Olga joined her husband at Ortiz Insurance and Real Estate where they jointly worked for 17 years and finally retired in 2011. Olga was also a past member of the Credit Committee at the Brownsville Teachers' Credit Union.

Olga was preceded in death by her parents, Estela and J.O. Guzman.

Olga is survived by her husband of 62 year, Gilbert J. Ortiz and 4 children: Diana (John Kimmel) Ortiz Fuller, Norma (Eddie) Ortiz Barron, Raul G. (Laura) Ortiz, and Omar J. (Eva) Ortiz. Olga is also survived by her grandchildren: Michael (Nora) Barron, Audris & Alis Fuller, Bridgette (Bictor) Zamora, Gilbert, Omar, Anthony, Amanda, and Allissa Ortiz; along with Johnny (Cecilia), Josh (Misty), and Jeff (Taylor) Kimmel, and Derek Richardson; 9 great-grandchildren: Michael Dominic Barron, Christian Joseph Barron, Bictor Barron Zamora, in addition to Aliya, Reynaldo, Rosalinda, Kaiden, Cheyanne, and Alana Kimmel. Olga will also be missed by her sisters: Gloria Villegas, Inda Guzman, and Mary Helen Flores, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

The family would also like to extend their grateful appreciation to Mari Hernandez, Carmen Velasquez, and Rosa Munguia for the loving care they rendered to their mother.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 3, 2018, with the recitation of the rosary scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening in the East Chapel at Darling Mouser Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 4th, 2018, at St. Luke's Catholic Church, 2800 Rockwell Ave. Committal services will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.

Michael Barron, Gilbert Ortiz, Anthony Ortiz, Omar Ortiz, Bictor Zamora, David Medrano, Richard Flores, and David Villegas are honored to be serving as Olga's pallbearers.

Bruno Zavaleta, Jr., James Daniel Perez, Matthew Villegas, Dominic Barron, and Christian Barron will serve as honorary pallbearers.

"When the greatest fall, the earth trembles. Today our world lost a great soul, a great role model, a great mother. With Mother's Day approaching we can say we will celebrate more than just a day loving and remembering our mother. We will honor her life. To the moon and back, to above and beyond, we love you will miss you."
