BROWNSVILLE, TX. – Paula Sauceda Briones, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, ascended into heaven on Saturday, the 14th of January 2023, one day shy of her ninety-first birthday.
Paula was born on January 15, 1932, daughter of Francisco Sauceda and Josefa Davila. She was a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan, enjoyed college football, watching golf, and having her favorite food, Antonio’s cheese enchiladas. Paula had a green thumb and enjoyed giving away her plants to friends and family members. In her later years, she kept her mind sharp and busy solving her word search puzzles.
Paula was a warm-hearted person, who lived with kindness and forgiveness, and she will be missed dearly by her friends, relatives, and children. We miss you, Mom.
Preceding Paula in death was her husband of thirty years, Benigno Briones, Sr.; her daughter, Margarita Briones; her brothers Ezequiel Sauceda, Felix Sauceda, and Juan Sauceda; and her sisters, Mary Ayala and Isabel Almaraz.
Paula S. Briones, the eldest of her eight siblings, is survived by her sisters, Guadalupe Salazar and Josefina Garza; her husband's children from a previous marriage Carol Cross, Virginia Dienhart, Mary Lou Lopez, and Benigno Briones, Jr.; and her biological children Rosie Drash, Melinda Briones, Jerry Briones, Jorge Briones, and Gilbert Briones. Paula was blessed with twenty grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
The family gathered for private services.
