Peter D. Smith

Peter D. Smith, 74, was born in Harlingen, Texas and was a Rio Grande Valley resident for 26 years ten years at South Padre Island, Texas and 16 years in Brownsville, Texas. He graduated in 1965 from The University of Texas, Arlington, Texas with a B.S. Degree in Mathematics and Engineering. He worked for the F.A.A. for many years and retired in 1979. He was a remarkable person.

Always calm, kind, and wise, ready to listen to others problems, lift their burdens and point them in the right direction. He had a marvelous sense of humor bringing laughter to all that knew him. He will be greatly missed by his wife, family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lorraine and Mancil Smith, a daughter, Christine Smith, a son, Douglas Smith, and a stepdaughter, Molly Pellegrin.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria Smith of Brownsville, TX; a son and his wife, Richard and Cecelia Smith of McAllen, TX; a son and his wife, John and Vicki Smith of Fort Worth, TX; sister, Geraldine Naugles of Fort Worth, TX; sister, Kate Smith Peirce of Dawson, TX; niece, Robin Young of Fort Worth, TX; nephew, Bobby Peirce of Fort Worth, TX; grandchildren, J.D. and Cassidy Smith, Claudia Barger, Dillon Smith; four stepchildren, Warren Pellegrin of Stafford, VA; Reef Waterworth of San Jose, CA; Theresa Brown of Alturas, CA; Suzanne Stack of Colorado Springs, CO and many step grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren

As per his wishes. Mr. Smith will be cremated and a private ceremony will be held at a later date.
