Petra Longoria Rosales

OLMITO, TX. - Petra Longoria Rosales entered into eternal rest on Friday, the 3rd of July 2026 at Harlingen Medical Center. She was 79 years of age.

Petra was born on May 12, 1947 in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico, daughter of the late Alonzo Longoria and Raquel Garcia. She was a longtime resident of Olmito, Texas where she was actively involved in her parish, Our Heavenly Father Catholic Church. A devout Catholic and avid parishioner, Petra volunteered countless hours to the church and Rosary group. Her favorite pastimes included playing cards, loteria, and spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed watching her kids and grandkids play sports, and being an amazing mom, sister, wife, grandmother, and great-grandmother to her family.

Preceding Petra in death are her husband, Ernesto Rosales; her parents, Alonzo Longoria and Raquel Garcia; and her siblings, Raquel Pena, Armando Longoria, and Alonzo Longoria.

Survivors include her children, Susana Castillo (Roberto), Margarita Villarreal (Juan), Ernesto Rosales, Jr. (Ana), Luis Rosales (Lizette), and Arturo Rosales; her grandchildren, Candelario Villareal (Alessandra), Alejandro Villareal, Ariana Isabel Rosales, Luis Alonzo Rosales, Leonel Alfredo Rosales, Celeste Raquel Rosales-Lebron, Ernesto Inez Rosales III, Cataleya Frida Rosales-Lebron, Camila Luz Rosales-Lebron, Juan Villareal, Jr., and Cynthia Alma Villareal; her great-grandchildren, Emma Mia and Gianna Graciela Villarreal; and her siblings, Ana Pena, Eduardo Longoria, Maria de los Angeles Flores, Silvia Pena, and Rosa Elia Longoria.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, the 10th of July 2026 between the hours of two o'clock in the afternoon and nine o'clock at night, with the recitation of the holy rosary to be recited at seven o'clock Friday evening within the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ten o'clock in the morning on Saturday, the 11th of July 2026 at Our Heavenly Father Catholic Church, 9178 Tomas Cortez Jr Street, Olmito, Brownsville. Interment will then follow, via an escorted procession, at Buena Vista Burial Park, 5 McDavitt Boulevard, Brownsville.
