River Myles Garza

BROWNSVILLE, TX. - River Myles Garza entered into eternal rest on Sunday, the 16th of November 2025. He was three years of age.

When Jessica and Myles learned they were expecting their first child, they announced the news in the only way Texas Aggies would – with a barbecue and giant A&M baby themed basket. The news was joyous, but River was even more so.

Born on a Thursday, on the 25th of August 2022, River arrived into a world of love and care built by his loving parents, adoring grandparents, and excited uncles, aunts, and friends. He was the first grandson for both the Garza and Hinojosa families, holding the dreams of fishing with his Grandpa Robert and riding motorcycles with Grandpa Joe.

As River grew, his gentleness, kindness and joy radiated. He was known for his beautiful brown curls and warm smile, befriending everyone he met. He loved attending “Spider School,” known to others as Episcopal Day School and playing T-Ball with the Rangers. Most of all, he enjoyed reading books and playing with his little sister, Brooke, and his four-legged siblings, Lincoln and MacLeod.

Words cannot express the loss and grief his family, friends, and classmates are experiencing. River’s time here was cut far too short, but we find comfort in knowing that memories exist outside of time. And we will always love and remember River.

River will be laid to rest near his late uncle, Roberto “Robby” Garza, Jr. He was also preceded in death by his canine companion, Coco Hinojosa.

River is survived by his loving and devoted parents, Jessica Hinojosa and Myles Garza; by his cherished sister, Brooke Olivia Garza; by his beloved canine companions, Lincoln Bernadette and MacLeod; by his adoring grandparents, Judge Robert Garza and Norma Garza, and Jose Angel Hinojosa and Josie Hilaria Hinojosa; by his aunts and uncles, Rochelle M. Garza, Adam B. Madeiro, Janelle Hilary Riezenman, Adam Seth Riezenman, and Josette Hinojosa; and by his cousins, Cecilia Matisse Madeiro, Celine Cosima Madeiro, Daveigh Gutierrez, Selah Cruz, and Emry Riezenman.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, the 23rd of November 2025 between the hours of three o'clock and six o'clock in the evening within the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home. The recitation of the holy rosary will be recited at half past seven o’clock Sunday evening at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 1914 Barnard Road, Brownsville.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at twelve noon on Monday, the 24th of November 2025 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 1914 Barnard Road, Brownsville. Interment will then follow, via an escorted procession, at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4464 Old Port Isabel Road, Brownsville.

Honored to serve as River’s pallbearers will be Adam Madeiro, Adam Riezenman, Chris Castanon, Jerry Klinger, and Joey Zebrowski. His honorary pallbearers are David Hinojosa, Juan Antonio Gonzalez, Dylbia Jeffries Vega, and Jose Miguel Ramirez.
