Robert Eugene "Bob" Stevenson

BROWNSVILLE, TX. - Robert Eugene “Bob” Stevenson entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, the 12th of July 2022 in the comfort of his Brownsville residence surrounded by his family. He was ninety-six years of age.

Bob Stevenson was born in Brownsville, Texas on October 28, 1925, son of the late Thomas Warren Stevenson and Edna Marie Deyo Stevenson. He grew up in Brownsville alongside his two older siblings and his twin brother. After graduating from Brownsville High School, he joined the United States Navy in 1944 and was honorably discharged post World War II in July 1946.

Bob was a devoted husband and father. He met the love of his life Alicia Perez and they married on the 2nd of September 1961. He always welcomed people with a smile and took pleasure in making people feel happy and comfortable in is presence. He was also quick with his jokes.

An avid fisherman, Bob spent his free time, which was usually on a Sunday, on his boat in the waters off South Padre Island or driving in his Jeep along the shoreline. During the other six days of the week, you could find him greeting you at Stevenson’s Appliances and working until a few weeks ago when he became ill. He thrived being a self-employed businessman and he never considered retirement an option.

Bob was a history buff and loved to read as many World War II books he could get his hands on. When he wasn’t fishing or reading, he was watching football. He was a loyal Dallas Cowboy fan, win or lose. Bob will be missed dearly by his family and all those fortunate enough to have known him.

Preceding Bob in death were his parents, Thomas Warren Stevenson and Edna Marie Deyo Stevenson; his sons, Samuel Edward Stevenson and Gary Barton Stevenson; and his brother, Thomas Warren Stevenson, Jr., his sister, Ethel Marie Stevenson, and his twin brother, William Edward Stevenson.

Survivors include his loving and devoted wife, Alicia P. Stevenson; his children, Robert Eugene “Bobby” Stevenson II and Lisa Stevenson Fendrick (Jack Jefferson Fendrick); and his grandchildren Baylie Elizabeth Stevenson, Luke Jackson Fendrick, and Abigail Catherine Fendrick.

The Funeral Service will be celebrated on Saturday, the 16th of July 2022 at half past nine o’clock in the morning, at the Church of the Advent, Episcopal, located at 104 W. Elizabeth Street, Brownsville. Interment will immediately follow, via an escorted procession, at Buena Vista Burial Park, 5 McDavitt Boulevard, Brownsville.
