Roberto Saldivar, Sr.

BROWNSVILLE, TX. – Roberto Saldivar, Sr. was called to be with the Lord on Tuesday, the 1st of February 2022. He was seventy-six years of age.

Robert, as he was affectionately known to many, was most at peace when he was with his family. Whether he was rooting (or yelling) for his beloved Dallas Cowboys, enjoying family dinners, or playing with his grandchildren, Robert loved the family atmosphere he and his wife had created. His family was his life.

Robert was born on December 23, 1945 to Juan and Facunda Saldivar in Brownsville, Texas. He was raised in Brownsville and graduated from Brownsville High School in 1964. While attending Texas Southmost College, he was called to serve his country. Robert served in the United States Army while stationed in Okinawa from 1966 to 1968. Robert returned from service to his future wife, Olga De La Rosa. They were married in 1971. Robert then began working for Union Pacific Railroad where he worked for thirty-five years. Upon retiring, Robert returned to college where he graduated with a Bachelors of Arts from Texas Southmost College in 1995.

Preceding Robert in death were his parents, Juan and Facunda Saldivar; sisters, Anita Rodriguez and her husband Santiago and Inez Frausto and her husband Jose Sr.; his brother, Gregorio Quiroz; and brothers-in-law, Genaro B. Aldaco and Guadalupe Garcia.

Left behind to cherish his memory is his wife of fifty-one years, Olga Saldivar; sons, Roberto Saldivar Jr. (Lesleigh) and John Joseph Saldivar, Sr. (Shari); four beautiful grandchildren, his pride and joys, John Joseph Saldivar Jr., Lilia Marie Saldivar, Austin Christoval Saldivar, and Cade Stephen Saldivar; sisters Lucia Gomez, Juanita Vasquez, Magdalena Aldaco, and Andrea Garcia; in addition to numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
