BROWNSVILLE, TX. – Rodolfo D. "Rudy" Garza, beloved son and brother, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, the 20th of May 2023 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Brownsville, Texas. He was sixty-eight years of age.

Rudy was born in Brownsville, Texas on June 3, 1954, son of the late Hector D. Garza, Sr. and Angelica Garcia Garza. While in high school, he was a drummer in the Brownsville High School Eagle Band and earned 1st Chair in All-State Band. They also traveled to Switzerland where they performed at different venues. Rudy graduated from Brownsville High School, Class of 1972, and went on to continue his education and study music at North Texas State University in Denton, Texas. He then joined the United States Air Force in 1974 and was stationed at Randolph Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. His favorite pastimes included fishing and listening to music.  
 
Preceding Rudy in death were his parents, Hector D. Garza, Sr. and Angelica Garcia Garza, and his brother, Hector D. Garza, Jr.  
 
Survivors include his siblings Oscar D. Garza (Deborah), Oralia Garza de Cortes (Ernesto), Tommy D. Garza (Rosemary), Leticia Guerra (Carlos); his sister-in- law, Aurora A. Garza; in addition to numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

 

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, the 30th of May 2023 between the hours of eleven o'clock in the morning and nine o'clock at night, with a recitation of the holy rosary to begin at seven o'clock Tuesday evening within the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ten o'clock in the morning on Wednesday, the 31st of May 2023 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1200 Lincoln Street, Brownsville. Interment with military honors will then follow, via an escorted procession, at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4464 Old Port Isabel Road.

Honored to serve as his pallbearers are Carlos Guerra, Sr., Oscar D. Garza, Tommy Garza, Jacob Cortez, Hector D. Garza III, and Daniel Garza.

Honorary pallbearers are Jason Esquibel, Eddie Tristan, and Julio Estrada.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Nadia Sprecher for the care she provided him for over the past ten years.
