LAGUNA VISTA, TX. – Rolando “Roland” Zertuche entered into eternal rest on Saturday, the 14th of March 2026 in Brownsville, Texas. He was 59 years of age.
Roland was born on January 24, 1967, in Eagle Pass, Texas, son of Alfredo and Erlinda Zertuche. He spent much of his life in Midland, Texas, and later along the Texas Coast in South Padre Island and Laguna Vista, where he shared his passion for music with a wide audience that included both local residents and an international audience.
Roland was a natural born entertainer with an extraordinary gift for connecting with audiences. He demonstrated his talent at an early age singing in both the Crockett Elementary School choir and the Our Lady of Guadalupe Church choir.
As an adult musician and composer, Roland brought joy to countless people through his performances, original compositions, and irresistible personality. He was known for his outgoing nature, quick wit, and his ability to make anyone feel significant and appreciated. Whether through music, conversation, or a simple smile, he had a way of lifting others and leaving a lasting impression wherever he went.
Beyond his musical talents, Roland was deeply committed to volunteerism, supporting community and humanitarian causes. He lived with passion, generosity, and a genuine love for people and animals alike.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfredo and Herlinda Zertuche; father-in-law, Michael Carlson; and by his beloved fur babies, Bonni Z and Mitzi Z.
Roland is survived by his adoring wife and soulmate, Kirsten Zertuche; daughters, Madi Padilla and Aliza Rowly; siblings, Jose “Bo” Zertuche and Javier “Jay” Zertuche; and grandchild, Daniel Stowe. His extended family includes his sister-in-law, Christina Zertuche; his nieces, Mia Zertuche, Danielle Ruiz, Ryenn Ruiz, and Jennifer L. Velarde; and his nephews Marcus Zertuche Nico Ruiz, Sabas Ruiz, and Luke Kelderman. He is also remembered by his beloved pets, Miley Z, Polly Z, and Harley Z.
The first of two Celebrations of Life will be held at five o’clock in the afternoon on Sunday, the 22nd of March 2026, at the Angry Armadillo, 3704 W. Wall Street, Midland, Texas 79703.
Details for a second Celebration of Life in April on South Padre Island, Texas, will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of floral arrangements and customary remembrances, memorial contributions may be directed to the animal rescue organization of your choice in honor of Roland’s love for animals.
Roland is deeply missed but lives on forever in our hearts and memories.
