BROWNSVILLE, TX. - Rosa M. Larrasquitu passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones, on Friday, the 20th of June 2025. Born on December 13, 1936, in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico, she was the daughter of the late Diodoro Manzano and Natalia Gonzalez Manzano.
Affectionately known as Rosita or Ama, she was cherished by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Rosa was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rogelio Larrasquitu Cantu; her son, Efrain Larrasquitu; her brother, Benito G. Manzano; and by her sister, Natalia M. Acevedo.
She is survived by her children Susana L. Sanchez (Jorge), Sandra L. Feliciano (Ruben), Martha P.L. Chapa (Oscar), Diana L. Garcia (Joe +), Juanita L. Villeda (Daniel), Claudia L. Thomas (Jorge), and Rogelio Jr. (Isabel). She also leaves behind 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and her youngest brother, Eduardo G. Manzano.
The Funeral Mass was celebrated at two o'clock in the afternoon on Tuesday, the 24th of June 2025 at the historic Immaculate Conception Cathedral in Brownsville. Entombment then followed within the Buena Vista Burial Park Mausoleum in Brownsville.
Honored to serve as Ama’s pallbearers were her grandsons.
